- Description
1. How do you help and support my child with all his/her needs
We collect in depth information about each Childs development and welfare needs at admission and on registration documentation. We have a key person system that allows them to get to know each child as an individual as we all get to know the children really well.
We encourage parents and carers tto ask for advice and if you feel your child may need additional support please inform the setting who will help and guide you.
We have robust systems for our Liverpool early years SENDCO policy and procedure and have incorporated early Intervention procedures that support our families.
2. How is my child supported whilst in nursery?
All Children have a Key Person who helps and supports there learning and development which is captured and evidenced via our on line journals Tapestry. Videos and photographs are taken with supporting document on your Child's activities and or free play which is linked up to our Early Years Foundation Stage with next steps provided which once saved automatically get sent to your email address for you to look at read and comment keeping you up to date with your Child's development.
Observations are done on a regular basis and all children learn through there interests and likes.
We also have play plans in place when needed and have weekly meetings with Parent/Carers to ensure the play plans are robust and working well.
3. What additional support can you give my child?
We attend our Early Years Consortia once a month where we have access to a wealth of information from other settings, Support and guidance from our local Children Centre, Information and sessions through the Isabella Trust and can book in sessions with the Educational psychologist and SENISS support.
We ensure all Children have a Key Person who can support their needs and have a good bond with and have regular meetings with Parent/Carers to keep you up to date with all your Child's needs. We also have an open door policy where you can call in and see the SENDCO and Deputy SENDCO at any time that is convenient to you.
4. How do you support my child into further Education?
We ensure your Child is ready for 'Big School' by supporting there learning and development, talking about big school, setting up the role play area with similar items to school and having the uniform for their school in our dressing up area so that the Children can get used to it. Our Pre School Children are encouraged to wear our Kiddy Academy uniform which we feel helps them to be more school ready. We have little walks out in the community and go to the local schools for children to visit. We invite the Child's new Teacher into our setting for a stay and play and hand over any relevant information. We read stories related to starting school as well as enhancing our areas to coincide with these changes.
Children with SEN have additional visits and are given a story book to help with their transition and as much support is given from outside agencies which we can apply for if needed.
5. How does my child Settle? Can I come into the setting?
We offer 2, 2 hour sessions prior to your child attending our setting so that your Child can build up their relationship with our Staff to ensure when they are due to stay for longer periods your child is happy and settled and a Key Person can begin your child's progress. If Children do not settle during these periods further settling in sessions will be offered to ensure the smooth transition into Kiddy Academy. Tapestry will be set up as soon as permission is given so Parent/Carers can see their Child's progress and how they are throughout the day almost straight away.
Parent/Carers are invited to a stay and play at a time and date convenient to them where they will be with their Child for up to 2 hours and see how their Childs plays, interacts and learns and will support staff in the daily running and routine of the setting.
We have an open door policy so you can come into the setting as much as you want especially before your child starts to, ask any questions, build a relationship with Staff and to let your child familiarise him/herself with the surroundings of our setting.
We have an open door policy and welcome your views, comments and suggestions via verbal, in our book which is available at the entrance to the building and we give out Questionnaires each term which can be signed or remain anonymous.
