A new provider for SENDIASS services in Liverpool

Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities Information Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS) - Provider changes on 1st April

Liverpool City Council and Knowsley Metropolitan Council has awarded the contract for Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities Information Advice and Support Services (SENDIASS) to Barnardo’s . They have taken over from WIRED the incumbent, from 1st April 2023, and continue to provide help and information to SEND families.

We will work with the new provider to continue the reduction in waiting times over the coming months, and to meet the needs of our families and children.

There may be some continued short-term disruption over the coming weeks while colleagues continue to deal with the backlog and familiarise themselves with new systems and processes, but we will be working hard to minimise this.

Carol Dufton, Barnardo’s, Assistant Director Children's Services, Merseyside and Cheshire, said:

"We are delighted to have been appointed to deliver the Liverpool and Knowsley SENDIAS Service. We have been providing support to children, young people, parents and carers in the North West for over 40 years and are excited to expand on that support with the addition of this Service, providing high quality, free, impartial advice, empowering them to have an informed and active role in decision making. We appreciate that change can bring uncertainty, but we are here to reassure our children, young people, parents and carers that we are working hard and investing in the development of this Service to ensure we provide you with the highest quality support."

The Liverpool and Knowsley SENDIAS service will be located at 109 Eaton Road, L12
