Prescot Drive short breaks

Service Overview

Prescot Drive is a short-term breaks home offering accommodation to young people with Severe Learning Difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Complex Physical Disabilities, some of whom will have associated medical needs. The home provides short breaks for 8 Years of age up to their 18th birthday.  The objective of the breaks is to provide an enjoyable, stimulating and challenging set of experiences for the young people, whilst also affording their parents/carers a break. This is designed to support and maintain their home placements. The home is an activities based home which aims to provide fun for young people, set in a safe environment.

Current OFSTED rating –  " Outstanding in Leadership and Management and good in all other areas"

Key information

The service currently works with around 60 young people and their families. The service operates a rolling calendar, so that groups of children access short breaks throughout the year to support their families to care for them. The service is very good at working with young people, and sticking with them. 

The service works closely with the Disabled Childrens Social Work Team and partners in health and education to provide a sustainable and flexible service for children and their families.

The staff team provide a quality service and Ofsted have recognised this with an "Outstanding" grading two out of the last four years. The team have achieved this through their hard work, commitment and implementing their array of skills and qualities.

Feedback forms from families are completed regularly and are very positive about the impact of the service for themselves and their children.
