Cavendish View Primary School

About us

Cavendish View School is a specialist independent day school located in Walton, Liverpool and offers an engaging and individualised education provision for children aged 5-11 years. The school provides a wide range of specialist support to a range of children, including those with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, complex needs and challenging behaviors.

We recognise that starting something or somewhere new can be quite scary and we work closely with the parents/carers and our children to ensure that their start at Cavendish View is a positive one. We do this by ensuring our referral and admission process is a friendly and supportive experience, where the opportunity to meet key staff and visit the school as many times as needed is made available. We also provide home visits, welcome packs and outreach support, to ensure that once your child starts their educational journey everyone is confident and happy it will be a success!

Our Family Liaison Officer will also be on hand throughout your child’s education journey at Cavendish View School, acting as a key link with the school to provide the highest standard of support we believe you and your child deserve.

We are a learning community that is an extended family in which all members feel secure and supported. Our staff and pupils are healthy, cared for and in turn are caring. We enable the development of successful learners and confident individuals.

Working in partnership with you

We recognise that the key to a successful education placement is engagement and in response to that we offer an engaging and progressive curriculum, based upon your child’s individual needs.

During the first 4 weeks in their placement at Cavendish View, a range of assessments will take place to gain information about your child’s educational, emotional, social & behavioural, physical & sensory, and communication needs. The outcome of these assessments will be used to formulate your child’s Individual Education Plan and will be fully shared with you. We actively encourage and welcome your engagement and feedback in the creation of this Plan and will report on the progress achieved on a termly basis. In addition to termly reports we will also provide a full annual report, which will contain a detailed account of your child’s achievements and identified areas for future development.

At Cavendish View School we offer small class groups (maximum of 8 children per class), with high levels of staff support (minimum 1 Class Teacher and 1 Teaching Assistant).  However, as part of our referral assessment process, if it was felt that your child needed additional 1:1 support, this would be identified and can be provided.

We deliver the full National Curriculum tailored to meet the needs of your child and provide a range of exciting and engaging educational experiences, supporting your child to develop both academically and as an individual.

If your child is assessed as requiring additional support to develop and strengthen their Literacy and Numeracy skills, we provide additional 1-1 tuition to ensure they are able to make strong progress and achieve their potential.

Additional curriculum info

At Cavendish View we will also look to provide an adapted curriculum where pupils are in need of additional support, whether that be to provide additional help to access learning or to further enhance their desire to excel. We offer experiential learning alongside standardized classroom lessons to allow pupils to explore their interests and look to incorporate ‘real world’ experiences alongside interactive ICT to provide modern access to all forms of education.

Our staff team

At Cavendish View we have staff that have a vested interest in enhancing children’s lives, and through our staffing body look to embed an ethos of a pupil centred approach. Our teaching staff and teaching assistants work in tandem to deliver first class education, by sharing knowledge of the child and sharing best practice across school. We also have a highly trained Mental Health and Wellbeing team, who look to work alongside education staff to ensure that each child has the best experience and support both within the school setting and by supporting parents outside of school hours. All staff are put through a thorough recruitment process and are expected to remain current in their delivery through constant CPD and mandatory training.

School facilities

Cavendish View excels in providing excellent facilities for its children, from state-of-the-art sensory rooms to interactive screens in every classroom. We have a soft play area and quiet room to assist children in managing their everyday behavioral needs and our interactive corridors and accessible reading library allow a calming escape for children when needed.  Pupils have access to an outdoor play area designed to encourage exploration and discovery. We are also developing a further outdoor area to become a Forest school, enabling children to learn more about the environment and how we play our part.

Each classroom has not only traditional learning resources, but access to interactive technology such as Smart boards and Ipads, so that learning can be differentiated in varied ways, and our Science and Creative lab has a wide range of interactive and discovery media allowing children to learn through play and self-discovery. We also have a dedicated medical room and a canteen area provided for by our excellent head cook delivering healthy meals daily. With all of these excellent facilities which we are always growing and developing, children will always have something to assist them in their daily school lives.
