We offer various sessions and try were possible to meet the needs of all families wishing to access our nursery. Children are provided with a healthy snack during their session and we also offer a light meal option for those staying over lunch and tea. Children may bring in a packed lunch if they prefer. Rotunda nursery is open for ALL children (aged 1-5years) between the hours of 8am and 5.55pm Monday-Friday, 38 weeks per year (Nursery is closed in line with the Liverpool city council holidays). We encourage strong parent partnership links and being based in a Learning resource centre, we can offer courses and counselling etc and also provide child care if parents enrol in one of our many college courses. Children have access to our secure outdoor garden space which has recently been refurbished, as well as having time each week in our community garden. We have recently opened a new pre-school space to help to support the growing number of children within the area and also have a new sensory room to help support children who may need additional support with their learning. From February 2022 we will also be offering Forest school sessions for our children attending nursery. With good transport links and free parking, accessible lifts and ramps we strive to offer an entire package.

1. How does the setting know if children need extra help and what should I do if I think my child may have special educational needs?
We at Rotunda complete all about me forms with the parents/carers to develop a sense of the child before starting. We then carry out observations and assessments to determine each individual child’s age and stage of development. This then will determine whether or not children may be identified as needing additional support. This is then discussed with you at our regular progress meetings and any relevant steps put into place. We also have highly trained staff who can identify any delay in development early as well as a highly trained SENCO who carries out additional support and observations. If at any time you feel you wish to discuss your child’s needs with us we operate an open door policy and will ensure that you have time to have your concerns heard.
2. How will the staff in the setting support my child?
When your child starts at Rotunda they will be assigned a Key person who will carry out regular reviews to ensure all appropriate support is in place for your child’s individual needs. We measure your child’s progress by following the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum as well as completing;
- Learning Journals,
- small group work,
- key worker time
- Referral to specialist services (if needed)
3. How will the curriculum be matched to my child's needs?
The setting carries out observations and tracking to determine the age and stage of each child. The key person will then plan age appropriate activities which will support the child’s development in line with the EYFS guidance and your child will have access to all activities and opportunities whilst at Rotunda with adaptations being made when needed to make it more accessible to your childs needs.
4. What specialist services and expertise can be accessed by the setting?
We work in partnership with the
- local authority,
- health and social care services.
- Hugh Baird College
- Edge Hill University
As well as having a college, alternative education and adult learning service on site. At Rotunda we also have a community garden sponsored by Jo Malone London.
We are members of the Early Years Consortia.
Our staff have been trained in First Aid, safeguarding and our Nursery manager has Level 2 SEN Award :Understanding the needs of babies and young children with special educational needs and disabilities.
The Nursery Manager is BA (Hons) qualified in Early Years Leadership and Management Level 6 and our Deputy Manager is Level 3 qualified in early years.
5. How accessible is the setting?
We are open from 8am-6pm 5 days per week 38 weeks per year
We have a lift which allows access to all floors.
We have disabled parking at the front of the building.
We are also happy to discuss any other specific needs with you and any reasonable adjustments made to the setting.
6. How will the setting support my child in transferring to the next stage of education?
We work in partnership with the local schools to aid smooth transitions. We provide schools with a summary of progress and transition form as well as inviting new teachers to nursery to meet with us and your child. Any additional needs/requirements will be discussed with the school and relevant information shared.
7. How are parents involved in the setting? How can I be involved?
We operate an open door policy allowing parents to drop in at a time that is convenient to them. We also carry out regular progress meetings which gives parents an opportunity to discuss any concerns or comment on their child progress. We also have a facebook and twitter page to allow parents to leave feedback and keep up to date with events and any community linked events being held. Within the nursery we have ‘news forms’ for parents to inform us of any special events, interests and upcoming events that their child may be involved in and wish to share with their friends. We also have college courses and volunteer placements across the company for parents to gain new skills and improve their personal development.
