Happy Children Nursery
Human beings are environmental by nature, they are very much products of all that takes place around them. In order to thrive, a child must be happy and content inwardly, thus our learning environment places great emphasis on this happiness that we believe to be every child's right.
Our aim is to foster an enviroment that allows each child to learn organically through the experiance of play; working together with their families to provide a holisitic approach to learning.

- Description
1. How does the setting know if children need extra help and what should I do if I think my child may have special educational needs?
When children register at the nursery parents complete an all about me form and the practitioner completes an initial assessment of the child with the parents. If there is any issues raised or delay in any areas of learning is highlighted then this information is used to plan the next steps for the child. If the child has come from another setting we contact the setting or relevant agencies whom may have had contact with child to give us a clearer picture of the child’s needs and what has been done for the child.
2. How will the staff in the setting support my child?
The staff use the information gained to plan for the child’s next steps and at times a play plan may be needed to tailor for the needs. Practitioners will allocate one to one time or work in a smaller group to ensure the child is getting quality time with them. Observations are done about the child’s interest and how the child engages with his environment, peers, adults and resources which help to form how the practitioner how best to engage with the child.
3. How will the curriculum be matched to my child's needs?
The setting is organised by chronological age, the staff adapt planning according to the child’s individual needs and at the child’s own pace.
4. What specialist services and expertise can be accessed by the setting?
The setting works in partnership with the local authority, health and social care services. The setting is part of the Early Years Consortia. The staff have been trained in language development, behaviour management, some members of staff have had training in autism, challenging conversation and other recommended course by local quality improvement team.
5. How accessible is the setting?
The setting is wheelchair accessible, we have staff who speak many languages needed for the EAL children. The nursery has an open door policy and are more than happy to cater for individuals needs.
6. How will the setting support my child in transferring to the next stage of education?
The setting is in close contact with feeder schools in the local area and some schools which the past children have attended. At times the practitioners have visited the school with the child to bring ease the transition period.
7. How are parents involved in the setting? How can I be involved?
The nursery has formed a parent, practitioner association which meets up regularly to organise events and discuss any issues, parent evenings take place twice a year to discuss children’s progress, work shops, stay and play sessions are organised annually to give parents a better understanding of how the children engage in play and how to engage children in play.
